Getting Food Retail Right with John Stanley 

Location: EKM, Evolution House Caxton Road, Preston PR2 9ZB.

Day One: 26th January, 9.30am - 4.30pm.

Managers are encouraged to bring plans of their own retail operation as they will be working in groups to develop them.

The format for the day will cover:

  • Creating a unique consumer experience. What does it take?
  • Play the 'image game' before you design the store.
  • How data can inform decisions in the design. 
  • Customer flow, get right and grow your sales.
  • Locating the categories in the right zones to maximize total floor sales.
  • Data at the shelf edge to keep relevant products in the right place.
  • Positioning the power displays and how to build them.
  • Managing an operational plan to ensure the power displays happen.
  • Merchandising strategies to grow your business.
  • Signs grow sales - if you get them right.
  • Labelling and POS linked to Epos systems to keep the brand consistent and achievable.
  • Putting it all together to grow a business.

Lunch and refreshments will be provided. 

Day Two: 27th January, 9.30am - 4.30pm.

Day two is designed as an advanced day where decisions can be made on the future of delegates business in the marketing and retail space.

What are the elements of a unique memorable experience?

  • How to build a unique experience.
  • Fresh perspective from a different angle and thinking.
  • Price taking versus price making.
  • Engagement strategies that work.
  • Loyalty and promotions vs membership schemes.
  • Capabilities of systems to cross pollinate sales.

What are the changes we will have to introduce moving forward and how do we become the new leaders?

  • Becoming real green leaders.
  • Putting your thoughts into an Action Plan.

Background

John Stanley has worked with farm retailers across the globe for over 40 years. He has worked with many Farm Retail Association members as well as the association members in Canada and the USA. He and his wife, Linda, own Chestnut Brae, an accredited organic, regenerative sweet chestnut farm in south west Australia which is recognized nationally as an award-winning farm retail operation  

Over the last few years many farmers have started or are about to start a retail venture on their farm. This workshop is an opportunity to learn from the global leader.   

John will be in the UK in January 2023 and has joined forces with Fresh Retail to present a two day workshop. 

Who Should Attend 

Owners, managers and supervisors who have been in retailing for less than five years or who are considering a retail venture. 

The course will only run if we have a minimum of 20 people.
